These documents are relied on as familiar industry standards for their fairness and balance for all parties involved in a construction project. They are developed through a consultative process with representatives from all sectors in the construction industry.

CDBI DOCUMENTS AND GUIDES

One of the objectives of the Canadian Design-Build Institute (CDBI) is to recommend ‘best practices’ policies and procedures to support design-build utilization. It is therefore a priority for the Institute to develop a practice manual that provides guidance and recommendations on the successful delivery of design-build. These manuals are products of a consensus-building process aimed at balancing the interests of all parties on design-build projects. They reflect recommended industry practices.

These CDBI documents are available for free download:

Document 105 (2016) - Design-Build - Now

Document 115 (2018) - Unique Aspects of Design-Build for Owners

Document 205 (2007) - Methodology Assessment Matrix

CDBI also offers these guides for free download:

Selection of a Design-Builder - A List of Principles

Guide for the Calculation of Remuneration for Design-Build Proposals

Presentation on Honouraria for Design-Build Projects & Methodology Matrix
